A stranger smiled at me in the elevator’s office and I reluctantly smiled back while wondering if I knew this person. Then a colleague stepped in. She’s a Moslem and they just celebrated their Holy Ied, so I shook her hand to wish her a happy Ied. In a few seconds both of us hesitated whether we had to kiss each other’s cheeks, but then we held back.

This makes me thinking.

Smiles or other affectionate gestures such as hugs and kisses are free. I used to think that the air we breathe was the only free thing on Earth. That’s not true. Air isn’t free anymore. We pay lots of money for campaigns and efforts to clean our air from pollutions. Plus, we have to pay lots and lots money for our health because of very bad air.

So I think I have to learn not to give a reluctant smile. To anyone. Smile is contagious. It may be able to brighten someone’s day.

Smile, please! :)
