So I read today’s paper and browsed the Internet and found myself losing a tiny hope…again. Great, am I going to be so apathetic my whole life? Surely not. But the truth is it is really not going to be easy to be otherwise.
The first day the smoking laws was in effect, many people got arrested for smoking but they weren’t put into jail or fined a lot of money. Mmm…okay. Well, at least they might think twice to disobey the laws in the future. Let’s keep our fingers crossed about this! (Sigh)
The second day, still there were people who ignored the laws. Some office buildings still haven’t built their own smoking room. (Hellooo, the laws have been introduced for over a year now! Where have you been, guys?) Even in Gambir railway station, its smoking area is the whole second floor area. Yes, the whole! (So please to those passengers who can’t stand the cigarette smoke because it makes you dizzy, in tears, cough, or stop breathing, will you kindly FLY right to the trains or just JUMP DOWN right into the ground floor…safely.)
At Blok M bus terminal, a bus driver who caught up smoking just said nonchalantly that he didn’t care about the laws, that he would keep smoking and if he got caught he would willingly go to jail rather than pay lots of money!
A man who was seen smoking in a public place just said,” What else can I do? I know about the laws but I NEED to smoke. I’d better be careful about where I smoke.” Yeah, yeah, like we DON’T NEED to breathe some fresh air?
Okay, it has only been two days, right? I hope it will be better the next days. I hope, I hope, I hope, I hope…my hope is still intact.
